July/Mom and Dad's visit

My mom and dad came out a few days after Nick's family left. June was so fun -- we always enjoy having visitors! We hung out a lot in the backyard playing baseball with papa and checking on our garden. We also went the Livonia Spree, an outdoor pool, Island Lake State Park, the Detroit Science Center, celebrated Cora's birthday a few weeks early, and went to Greenfield Village. My mom took the big kids out on "dates" a couple of times, too. They went to the rec center pool and also to see a movie. My favorite part was going on a double date with them. We went to Deadwood Bar and Grill in Northville. It was so yummy and we loved the time we had with them. We celebrated my parent's 41st anniversary and our 11th anniversary. Here are some pictures of a wonderful visit!

On the 4th we were invited to a BBQ by some new friends in our ward. It was a beautiful day and we had some really comfortable weather. Earlier in the day we did a little nature walk behind Rotary Park. The walkways were supposed to be marked but they were marked poorly and we got lost several times. Of course we didn't have our cell phones with us, or bug spray. Yikes. I thought we were going to get swarmed by mosquitos. We finally made it out! Sadly I don't have any pictures of either event. When we got home from the BBQ it was still early enough to do some sparklers and fireworks. Cora hated the noisy ones! We decided to put her to bed and enjoy the fireworks without her. We did a combined firework display production with our neighbors. The kids loved it!
